LIB DEM 2007 FRINGE MEETING-“MAKING WORK WORK” (Addresses child disability and poverty) chaired by LORD CLEMENT JONES.

GO TO SMOKEFREEMOVIES- http://smokefreemovies.ucsf.edu/

Lord Clement Jones tonight attempted to sabotage an embarrassing question, regarding the omission of actors smoking from the 2002 Tobacco Advertising and Promotion Act. Of which he was the sponsor. This Act was used in a Judicial Review against the Attorney General, Tessa Jowell, and the Met. Police Commissioner.

See judicial review against the Attorney General & others INJUNCTION TO STOP ONSCREEN SMOKING posted Wed. 20 June 2007 - Table Of Content page 3. transcript of proceedings p. 42 & judgement p. 86 of Blog actorssmokingfilmstv.blogspot.com

The UKs top judge Sir Igor Judge claimed the Act did not protect children from enticement into addiction via actors smoking. (The whole point of the Act was to protect children from tobacco promotions!)

THE EMBARRASSING QUESTION
A major cause of poverty and disability is tobacco addiction which is forecast to kill one billion people this century, 90% of smokers become addicted as children, the 2002 Tobacco Advertising and Promotion Act was instigated to protect children from tobacco advertising and promotion.

Unfortunately it does not do the job, because according to the UKs top judge Sir Igor Judge, there is a gaping loophole in the act, the act does not address the main cause of why children start to smoke, children get the notion that it’s cool to smoke from actors smoking in films!

Would Lord Clement Jones please explain why this is the case?

Why the issue of actors smoking in films was not addressed in the 2002 Tobacco Advertising and Promotion Act. Of which he was the sponsor?

Half way through this question Lord Clement Jones tried to obstruct the question by shouting it down, also an attempt was made to seize the microphone. He then stated that the question would not be answered.
